Pastor Joe David Miles III, son of the late Deacon Joe D. Miles, Jr. and Jean McBroom Miles was born and raised in Burlington, North Carolina. Pastor Miles graduated from Graham High School in 1977.

 Pastor Miles is married to the former Renee Morrow of Mebane, North Carolina. They have three daughters, Gabrielle Miles, Chethada (Orville) Pass, and Shelsea (Terrance) Sellars. They also have eight granddaughters and two grandsons.

 Pastor Miles was a member of Miles Chapel Baptist Church in Mebane, North Carolina, where Rev. Scottie Torain is the pastor. He accepted Christ and was baptized. He served as an usher and president of the Usher Board, a member of the Gospel Choir, and the Young Adult Sunday School.

Pastor Miles preached his initial sermon there on January 31, 1999, and was ordained by the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association on May 18, 2002. He also became the Pastor of Glen Raven First Baptist Church in 2002. Since then, he has been blessed to exercise his gift, preaching in and around North Carolina. He has had extended studies at Liberty Home Bible Institute, Lynchburg, Virginia, Rhema Bible College, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and World Harvest Camp, Columbus, Ohio.
